Privacy Policy
MyMonk is a local, AI-powered website editor. This page explains what data we handle, what stays on your machine, and which third parties are involved when you use the product.
The short version
- Your files never leave your computer. Your browser reads and writes them directly through the File System Access API.
- Your AI provider API key stays in your browser. We do not have it.
- Your prompts and AI responses go directly from your browser to the AI provider you chose. They do not pass through our servers.
- We collect what we need to run your account and improve the editor: an email address, payment metadata, basic subscription logs, and anonymized usage analytics that do not include your files, prompts, or API key.
- If you reach us from a Google Ads click, we use Google Ads conversion tracking to measure whether that visit led to a subscription. We do not share your files, prompts, or API key with Google.
What we collect
Account data. When you subscribe to MyMonk we store the email address you sign up with and a record of your subscription status. We do not collect your name, address, or phone number.
Payment data. Subscription payments are processed by Razorpay. We receive a transaction record (amount, date, processor reference) but do not store full card details. Razorpay's privacy notice governs what happens at their end.
Operational logs. We log basic events from our billing and authentication systems (sign-in, subscription renewed, subscription cancelled, support requests). We do not log the content of your editor sessions.
Usage analytics. We collect anonymized analytics about how the website and editor are used — events such as which features are opened, how often a chat message is sent, the AI provider chosen, errors encountered, latency of operations, and basic device information (browser, OS, country derived from IP). We use this to find and fix bugs and to prioritize features. Analytics events do not include the content of your files, your prompts, your AI responses, or your API key. We use Google Analytics 4 and PostHog to collect these events; their privacy notices govern what happens at their end.
Advertising and conversion tracking. We advertise MyMonk on
Google Ads.
When you arrive on our site from a Google Ads click, Google sets cookies (e.g. _gcl_au,
_gcl_aw) so we can measure whether that visit led to a subscription (a "conversion").
The conversion event we send back to Google contains the fact that a subscription occurred and
basic page context — it does not include your files, prompts, AI responses, or API key.
Google's use of this data is governed by their privacy policy.
Cookies. The MyMonk website uses cookies in three categories: essential cookies
needed for sign-in and remembering your subscription; analytics cookies set by Google Analytics 4
(e.g. _ga) and PostHog (e.g. ph_*); and advertising-measurement cookies
set by Google Ads (e.g. _gcl_au) for the conversion tracking described above.
What we don't collect
- Your files — they live on your disk; we never receive them.
- Your API keys — they are kept in your browser's local storage.
- Your prompts or AI responses — they go directly from your browser to the AI provider.
- Your edit history — the per-turn history is stored in a
.mymonk/folder alongside your files, on your disk.
Third parties
When you use MyMonk you choose an AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google). Your prompts, your selected file context, and your API key are sent directly from your browser to that provider's API. Their privacy policy governs how they handle the request:
- Anthropic — anthropic.com/privacy
- OpenAI — openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
- Google — policies.google.com/privacy
We do not have visibility into those requests.
Your rights
You can request access to or deletion of the account data we hold by emailing contact [at] mymonk.ai. Cancelling your subscription does not automatically delete your account record; email us if you want it removed.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially we'll send a notice to the email on file before the new version takes effect.
